Purpose: Cinema as a teaching, cultural and outreach tool reveals to us another way of cultivating ourselves and communicating about areas of great interest to citizens, such as Gastronomy and Health. Main objectives: a) To learn about Gastronomy, Health and Cinema through the viewing of feature films, short films and documentaries from the five continents. b) To create a forum for dialogue between experts in these fields and the public. c) To raise awareness of the importance of these arts in Health (physical, mental and social). d) To generate a cultural debate on these topics within the University Community and Society. Organisation of the fourth edition: Host: Dr Belén Alonso Ortiz. PhD in Medicine from ULPGC. Associate Professor at ULPGC, attached to the Department of Medical and Surgical Sciences. She works professionally as an Associate Physician in the Internal Medicine Department at the University Hospital of Gran Canaria Doctor Negrín, and is a Tutor for Internal Medicine Residents. Film lover and food enthusiast. Guest expert: Alex Santana is executive chef and gastronomic director at La Bodega de la Avenida and El Ronqueo (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria), where he leads high‑volume restaurant projects, integrating kitchen, dining room and management under an approach focused on product quality, efficiency and customer experience. Trained in restaurant service, cuisine and pastry at IES San Cristóbal, he complements his profile with ongoing training in kitchen management. He has a solid track record in team leadership and the development of gastronomic concepts, as well as outstanding involvement in vocational training, accumulating more than 2,000 hours as a tutor. He has been recognised by the Repsol Guide (Solete), has taken part as a speaker at Madrid Fusión and collaborates as a brand ambassador and culinary consultant. His vision advocates for vocational training that is more closely connected to the reality of the sector, demanding and aligned with the current needs of the restaurant industry. Moderators: Ms Ana Luisa Álvarez Falcón. Director of the ULPGC GastroFood HUB. Dietitian‑nutritionist with a lifetime of experience at the University Hospital Dr Negrín. Associate researcher at ULPGC. / Dr José Antonio González. PhD in Biological Sciences. Marine and fisheries biologist. Honorary Professor at ULPGC, where he works as a researcher, lecturer and cultural facilitator. Director of the Cultural Classroom Science & Gastronomy – ULPGC. Format: The full session will last a maximum of about 2 hours. It will begin with the presentation of the guest figure and will include a cultural debate focused on the theme of this edition. The Forum will make a nod to the film Boiling Point (2021), as a way of showing what this profession is really like and why Vocational Training plays such a major role in it.
