Film Series — “This is Nigeria!” at the Elder Museum of Science and Technology, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Casa África presents the film series This is Nigeria!, which will take place from May 12th to 14th at the Elder Museum of Science and Technology, as part of the África Vive 2026 programme. With free admission, the series offers a sample of the richness and diversity of Nigerian cinema through a carefully curated selection of short films and feature films. CINEMA AT THE ELDER MUSEUM. MAY 12TH: REHEARSAL (2021) MY FATEHR’S SHADOW (2025) MAY 13TH: MY MOTHER’S STEW (2018) EZRA (2007) MAY 14TH: EGÚNGÚN (2023) FAAJI AGBA (2014) The programme includes standout titles such as My Father’s Shadow, the first Nigerian film at Cannes and winner of a Special Mention Caméra d’Or. Nigeria is consolidating itself as a true cultural superpower, with one of the most prolific film industries in the world. Its cinema, led by Nollywood — the second-largest global industry after Bollywood — produces more than 1,000 titles a year and continues to gain international recognition, both at festivals and on platforms such as Netflix. This activity is co-financed at 85% by ERDF funds within the framework of the COMPASS project (1/MAC/4/7.2/0018) under the INTERREG VI D MAC 2021–2027 initiative.
