Corners of an Island
Details
RINCONES DE UNA ISLA Saturday, 16 May 2026 – 8:30 p.m. Teatro Municipal Juan Ramón Jiménez Tickets: 10 Euros https://www.tureservaonline.es/es/events/rincones-de-una-isla Rincones de una isla is a project by the group Tabaiba that aims to take the audience on a musical journey through some of the natural spaces of the island of Gran Canaria. To do so, Tabaiba brings back different songs from their albums such as “Oro en Paño” (2009), “Eco de cinco cuerdas” (2013) and “Poemas del Alisio” (2017), which refer to representative corners of our island. These range from natural geological monuments like Roque Bentayga or the Caldera de Tejeda, beaches such as Arinaga or Guayedra, ravines like Veneguera or Guayadeque, villages such as Tirajana or Agüimes, or charming urban spots like Calle de los Reyes or Plaza de Santo Domingo in the historic district of Vegueta. This tour around the island of Gran Canaria seeks to highlight the natural and artistic value of our heritage, placing special emphasis on its protection, care and conservation. Tabaiba’s songs will be accompanied by a series of images projected on the back of the stage, related to each of the places evoked throughout the musical concert. A narrator from Tabaiba will be in charge of transporting the audience on an imaginary walk around the island through the reading of a narrative text that will accompany the presentation of each song, as we are carried along by the trade winds and the sirocco. The compositions in this project are original works by Tabaiba, created by members of the group. Some of the lyrics have been written by collaborators such as the poet Francisco Tarajano Pérez or Carmen Rivero López. #Teldecultura #Gestel #teatromunicipaljuanramonjimenez
