La Brega Sonora – Día de Canarias Special
Details
⚡️FRIDAY 29 We’re back at Azabache Club to kick off the weekend in a big way. ⚡️SATURDAY 30 We’ll celebrate Canary Islands Day together at Talleres Palermo. To mark the occasion, I’m planning to present LA BREGA SONORA: a hybrid concept somewhere between fight, collision and creation, but taken to the realm of sound. “Brega” in the Canary Islands carries that sense of everyday struggle, the street, resistance, or social or physical tension. LA BREGA SONORA is not just music. It’s a clash of sound materials that are not meant to fit together, but that, when combined, generate identity. I’ll be playing a lot of my own tracks that are born from imagination and from the connection with popular imagery. I won’t be using instruments or performing sounds live; my medium is the idea, reinterpretation and the creation of new sound universes from what already exists. I rescue traditional songs and transform them, giving rise to versions that dialogue with our present and with the experience of the listener. Every decision (how to alter, combine, emphasise or distort a track) is my artistic gesture, my authorship. The tool, whether digital or conceptual, does not define my art: what defines my art is the vision, the judgement and the creativity with which I remake the sound memory of OUR culture. With this I humbly want to show that art can be intangible, conceptual and deeply creative, without depending on physical execution. Each piece is a bridge between the old and the new, between popular tradition and contemporary imagination. Obviously there will also be plenty of music made in the Canary Islands 🇮🇨 and a few other musical curveballs, as usual. HAPPY CANARY ISLANDS DAY 🇮🇨
