The Legend of Canarias
Details
"The Legend of the Canary Islands" arrives in San Mateo this Monday La Vega de San Mateo will host the educational project "The Legend of the Canary Islands" this Monday from 10 a.m., an initiative framed within the 2nd Canary Islands Week organized by the Department of Culture of the Vega de San Mateo Town Council, headed by José Déniz, and made possible thanks to the sponsorship of the Institute for World Heritage Management and the Biosphere Reserve of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria. The project is designed for primary school pupils in the municipality. This is a high-level cultural and educational proposal that brings together performing arts, history and heritage, and which finds a natural and priority place in our municipality due to its close link with the cultural landscape of the summit of Gran Canaria and the territory declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The project includes: - Performance of the play "The Legend of the Canary Islands", written by Luis O’Malley. - Exhibition space at the entrance to the socio‑cultural centre to contextualise the importance of our historical legacy and the value of the UNESCO environment. - Delivery of teaching units aimed at teachers so they can work on the content of the performance in the classroom. La Vega de San Mateo is an essential part of the territory linked to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, and this initiative becomes a key educational tool for pupils to get to know, value and protect the historical, cultural and landscape legacy that surrounds them.
