MACAN Music Unit – A Human Journey Through Music
Details
A human journey through music The program invites us to embark, through music, on a journey that reflects universal stages of human experience: joy, challenge, reflection, exploration and overcoming. *The proceeds from this concert will be donated to the Fundación Canaria Pequeño Valiente. Learn about their work at the following link: https://pequevaliente.com/ We begin with Festival Variations by Claude Smith, a brilliant and colorful piece that celebrates the vitality and enthusiasm of life. Its cheerful rhythms and contagious energy represent those moments of euphoria and celebration that we all experience at the start of any personal adventure. Next, Concerto for Timpani and Band by Michael Daugherty places the focus on the individual facing the world. The soloist, Jordi Climent, guides us through an intense dialogue with the band, evoking the challenges and trials we face, and showing how talent, discipline and perseverance allow us to overcome obstacles. After this brilliant display of virtuosity, the work The Last Letter from Murdoch by Masanori Taruya invites us to introspection. The delicate and emotional music immerses us in our most intimate feelings, reminding us of moments of reflection, nostalgia and connection with our own humanity. From introspection we move on to exploration and openness to the unknown with Sheltering Sky by John Mackey. Its expansive atmospheres and modern textures evoke distant landscapes and unprecedented experiences, like the curiosity and discovery that accompany each stage of our lives. Finally, we close with The Year of the Dragon by Philip Sparke, a work of great strength and drama that symbolizes overcoming and triumph. Its powerful and virtuosic music reflects the energy, resilience and passion that allow us to reach our goals and face life with determination and enthusiasm. This sound journey takes us from initial celebration to challenge, from introspection to discovery, and finally to personal victory, reminding us that music is a mirror of our own life journey. *The proceeds from this concert will be donated to the Fundación Canaria Pequeño Valiente.
