Guided Tour – Between Water and Soap
Details
Guided Tour — Between Water and Soap in the Las Vegas Area, Valsequillo, Gran Canaria. The Valsequillo de Gran Canaria Town Council, in collaboration with ACHIGEA, is launching this May the theatrical routes "Between Water and Soap: a walk where water listens and memory speaks." Aimed specifically at Primary Education schools in the municipality, Third Cycle, this initiative offers an educational and fun itinerary through the surroundings of Las Vegas to bring schoolchildren closer to its natural environment and ethnographic heritage. Water culture acts as the guiding thread of a route of approximately 2.5 kilometres. Along the way, different characters appear, in charge of recovering the customs and memories of the place. One of the main objectives is to showcase the intangible cultural heritage of the Canary Islands and to raise awareness about the need for responsible water consumption. The most participatory area of the route is at the old washhouse, where children will be able to experience this traditional trade by washing and hanging clothes. Music will also play a leading role thanks to the collaboration of the School of Folklore, which will accompany each performance with musical pieces related to water. In addition, Juansito and Sarito will share anecdotes and stories about the local well with the students. Route schedule The routes, which are completely free of charge, will take place from 09:30 to 12:00 on the following dates: 11 May: CEIP Elvira Vaquero. 13 May: CEIP Los Llanetes. 14 May: CEIP Los Llanetes. 15 May: CEIP Las Vegas. 26 May: CEIP Elvira Vaquero.
