Attindamana Music-Theatre Production
Details
Attindamana turns the history and culture of Arucas into music for the new generations The song “Yo a mi cuerpo”, based on texts by Domingo Rivero, will represent the municipality in a production that will bring together artists from across the island On May 29, the Festival #LaIslaDeMiVida will experience one of its most emblematic moments with the performance of Attindamana, a major music-theatre production that will bring more than 500 Canarian artists together in Plaza de Santa Ana in an unprecedented show celebrating the identity and cultural richness of the 21 municipalities of #GranCanaria. The day will begin with a lively street parade along Calle Triana and will reach its climax with this large-scale artistic proposal that combines music, spoken word, emotion, and staging to journey through the history, landscapes, traditions, and soul of the island. Inspired by the figure of Attindamana, the aboriginal princess who symbolised the union of different clans under a single vision, the work brings that spirit into the present with a message of cohesion and collective pride: 21 municipalities, one single voice. In this sound journey made up of 21 original songs, each municipality finds its own voice. In the case of Arucas, the work will be represented by the track “Yo a mi cuerpo”, a piece born from the intimate and deeply human gaze of the poet from Arucas, Domingo Rivero, one of the municipality’s most illustrious sons. The song pays tribute to Arucas through his verses, with music by Ernesto Medina and Víctor Batista, and performances by Carla Vega, Thania Gil, and Germán López. The presence of Arucas in Attindamana represents a unique opportunity to showcase its cultural and literary heritage on an island-wide stage, contributing to a collective work that highlights the diversity and shared identity of Gran Canaria. The celebration will conclude with a performance by DJ Saot, whose proposal will bring the Canarian urban music scene closer to younger audiences, reflecting the cultural and creative plurality that characterises the island.
