Details
To join the Whatsapp community for this series of events: https://chat.whatsapp.com/ERneZCMrs17ABxb03jnsmv Hey, discover how to master your emotional intelligence with a thought-provoking and friendly approach. Join us for a modern-day version of an 18th-century salon. Engage in an evening of meaningful conversation without the usual small talk. A place to share personal stories and to learn from diverse ideas. Each time we pick a topic and frame the discussion around a few related questions. READING, BOOKS, AND OTHER FANTASTIC WORLDS 🌍 ‘One child, one teacher, one book, one pen can change the world.’ – Malala Yousafzai 1. Do you like reading? What kind of books do you normally read, and why? Has this changed through the years? 2. Does a person who reads 100 books "become" a different person than someone who reads none? How much of our personality is built from the voices of authors? 3. Is it possible to truly experience the life of someone from a different culture or gender through a book, or is that just an intellectual illusion? 4. Do you feel like a "different version of yourself" when you are deeply focused on a book compared to when you are scrolling on your phone? 5. Is reading a social act (sharing ideas) or a purely private one? How does it change how you talk to others? 6. Can we still enjoy a "masterpiece" if we know the author was a problematic or immoral person? Does reading make us "better" people, or does it just make us more "informed" people? 7. What does “reading” mean to you? What can we do to inspire ourselves and others to read more? Bring a jacket or sweater if it’s cold… Hope to see many of you there, welcome! FORMAT 18:00 - 18:10 - Welcome and introductory casual conversation 18:10 - 19:45 - Discussion guided by the event prompt questions 19:45 - 20:00 - We reassemble to sum up discussions and share thoughts or insights from the groups. 20:00 end of event (or let's stay and keep chatting!) WHAT'S THE VIBE Diverse: it's not rare to have people from all continents, as well as people from different ages, religions, ideologies, and backgrounds. Vulnerable: we value real conversations, personal stories and experiences. Casual: some people are having tea, others wine, some listen more, others talk more, some are taking notes, others are fully absorbed in conversation. PRICES In-person events are organized for FREE. To meet with, share experiences, hear different perspectives from people of all walks of life, different generations, and different corners of the planet" – Scott Ruddell, Colorado | LQA premium member "Since joining LQA I have had the opportunity to meet some fantastic people who have a wide range of knowledge and life experience. Of course, before participating I was under the impression that one must have read tons of books, possess a higher IQ or even be a quiz master, but frankly, those qualities are not the ethos for LQA. I personally learned that it’s about sharing, coming together with all sorts of knowledge and having a growth mindset to learn and hear other people’s perspectives. Overall, I would highly recommend joining LQA as it will broaden your horizons and it will enable you to share your world views on a larger scale with like-minded people." – Shah Karim, London | LQA premium member See you there
