Canary Islands Day Neighbourhood Gathering in Santa Brígida

This Saturday, May 30, Canary Islands Day, the Santa Brígida Town Council, through the Department of Rural Development headed by Carmen Juez, is holding a major Neighbourhood Gathering from 9:30 a.m. at the Mirador de la Villa, on a day designed to share traditions, music, gastronomy and traditional games. The festive day will be accompanied by the parrandas San Antonio and El Botellín, together with the folk groups La Zarzalera, Las Goteras and the Municipal School of Music. In addition, Canarian Wrestling and Stick Fighting will play a leading role with exhibitions by the Tinamar Wrestling Club and the Santa Rita Wrestling Club. The gathering will also revive traditional trades and tasks with demonstrations of threshing and sheep shearing, and will feature an Envite Tournament, a children's area with traditional games and an exhibition of local crafts. Gastronomy In the food section, those attending will be able to enjoy four food stalls with a varied selection of traditional dishes, including the essential Canarian sancocho or pork, among other flavours of popular Canarian cuisine. In addition, there will be a free tasting of watercress stew, gofio and cheese while supplies last. The event will also feature the presence of two winemakers from Santa Brígida (Juan Escudero and Bodega Ventura), who will bring the municipality's wines closer to the public. In total, the Mirador de la Villa area will bring together 17 stands, including community groups, associations, food stalls and wineries, turning Canary Islands Day into a space for togetherness throughout the entire day. The Neighbourhood Gathering has the collaboration of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, the Gran Canaria Chamber of Commerce and the brand Gran Canaria Me Gusta.
