Film Class: Around Opera – Brigadoon (1954)
Details
Synopsis Brigadoon is a small Scottish village, the victim of an enchantment that keeps its inhabitants asleep for a century. Once this period has passed, they wake up and come back to life, but only for one day. In this way, the village is preserved from outside corruption and evil and maintains its original charm and harmony. Two American tourists, Tommy Albright (Gene Kelly) and Jeff Douglas (Van Johnson), arrive in Brigadoon on the very day the village awakens and are amazed by the magic and mystery that surround it. There they meet Fiona Campbell (Cyd Charisse), a sweet young woman with whom Tommy falls in love. (FILMAFFINITY)
