Opening – Exhibition "Anyone Can Have a Bad Day"
Details
Opening — Exhibition "Anyone Can Have a Bad Day" at the Institutional Headquarters of Mapfre, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. "Anyone Can Have a Bad Day" is an exhibition made up of illustrations that show a female protagonist facing everyday situations with a minimalist graphic style, inspired by Indian ink and a limited colour palette. The works address the absurdities of daily life with humour and irony, reflecting contradictions and frustrations that make us equal as human beings. The main piece, which gives the project its name, shows the protagonist with a useless umbrella under which it is raining, while outside it is not, symbolising the senselessness of the everyday. Although many situations connect with female experiences, the proposal transcends gender and becomes a collective portrait of the human condition, where men and women can identify with their fears, doubts and stumbles. The exhibition includes 50 prints that invite the public to recognise themselves in the awkward and absurd moments we all share. The illustrations, in a variety of sizes and formats, are printed on high‑grammage paper and arranged in a dynamic and slightly chaotic way, to reinforce the spontaneous nature of the subjects addressed. In addition to reflecting everyday situations such as an endless Monday or the weight of work, the works also deal with social issues such as corruption and climate denialism, and even surreal and humorous situations. Through the vulnerability of the protagonist, the public finds a space for identification and reflection, where humour becomes a tool for facing life's stumbles. Instagram: @esthernietodibujos.
