As part of the 35th Canarias Jazz&más International Festival, the Jerónimo Saavedra Hall of the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium welcomes artist Estelle Perrault. Driven by an obsessive passion for the great jazz masters, from Bud Powell and Bobby Timmons to Ella Fitzgerald, Estelle Perrault has forged her own voice and musical identity. Drawing on her French-Taiwanese heritage and accompanied by some of the most talented musicians on the current scene, she presents "Promises", her third album, composed entirely from original sketches for piano and voice. Blending jazz and soul, "Promises" offers intimate and nostalgic songs carried by Estelle’s warm and captivating voice. It is a refined and personal sound, born from a close collaboration with pianist and arranger Rob Clearfield. "A fully blossomed voice, a musical world between soul and jazz, a band in perfect harmony, sincere and personal lyrics... so many promises of success," they have said about her. About the new album: "Promises" Essence: A collection of songs that captures glimpses of my inner world: its hopes, flaws, silent truths and contradictions. Narrative: I share fragments of a personal journey marked by vulnerability, disenchantment, and a deep desire to reconnect with myself. Tribute: This album is a humble homage to the promises that shape us: those that inspire us, those that hurt us, but above all, those that make us who we are. Collaboration and Creative Process The project is the result of a special collaboration with Rob Clearfield (artistic director, pianist, co-arranger and co-composer) and Matt Chalk (saxophonist and co-arranger). Their artistic visions were essential in bringing this music to life, allowing Estelle to embrace a sound deeply rooted in American music. This union also served as a bridge between Estelle’s childhood memories in Taiwan —growing up with the music of Whitney Houston, Billy Joel and Carole King— and the musical world inhabited by her collaborators. With Promises, she sought to recreate that feeling of an "inner home" and refuge that she built during her adolescence.
