Presentation – “The Invisible Image” Collection
Details
Presentation of the collection “The Invisible Image” at the CCA Gran Canaria, Las Palmas de GC. Next April 9 March 20, the CCA of Gran Canaria is proud to host the presentation of the eagerly awaited literary catalogue “The Invisible Image”, a fundamental work that places a necessary and well-deserved spotlight on the exceptional women who have been, and continue to be, behind cameras and lenses throughout the Canary Islands. The event will bring together enthusiasts, researchers and professionals to celebrate the valuable photographic and cinematographic art of the Canary Islands. The main presentation will be given by Asiria Álvarez, and the event will be rounded off, as could not be otherwise, with an emotional and powerful performance by acclaimed artist Raquel Ponce, putting the perfect finishing touch on this indispensable cultural activity. This catalogue goes beyond its documentary value, created with the commendable purpose of making visible, reinterpreting and bringing closer to all citizens the valuable artistic legacy of various Canary Island women from the rich audiovisual and photographic scene of the islands. It covers time periods ranging from the great pioneers to the established professionals of today, all while incorporating a bold, contemporary, feminist and gender-based perspective that firmly challenges those classic narratives which, for so many decades, had unjustly relegated them to a silent and opaque background. Seating capacity in the hall is limited, so admission will be completely free until full capacity is reached. It is a magnificent opportunity to immerse yourself in the rich contemporary island culture.
