Hanna Schulte – Organ Recital
Details
The German organist Hanna Schulte (2003) has established herself as one of the most solid performers of her generation after receiving awards at the Bach-Wettbewerb Köthen and the Joseph Gabler Competition. Trained under Jürgen Essl, her technique combines historical rigor with a contemporary vision of the instrument. In this program, Schulte draws an unbroken line between the counterpoint of J.S. Bach, the symphonic language of Mozart, and the avant-garde of the 20th century represented by Leguay and Dupré. The recital not only covers three centuries of aesthetic evolution, but also explores the organ’s ability to articulate the most complex forms of European musical architecture. Born in Freiburg in 2003, Hanna Schulte is one of the young rising stars of German sacred music. Educated at the music universities of Freiburg and Stuttgart, she is currently pursuing her advanced organ studies under Prof. Jürgen Essl. Throughout her career she has been awarded numerous first prizes, notably at the Bach-Wettbewerb Köthen (2019), the International Euregio Piano Award (2019), and the Joseph Gabler Competition (2021). Her concert activity has led her to take part in prestigious series such as the Bach Festival in Toul and the Orgelsommer in Tübingen. The program proposes a musical dialogue between eras that traces the evolution of the organ from the Baroque period to modernity. The recital begins with the mastery of J.S. Bach, with the monumental BWV 548 and the introspection of his Leipzig Chorales, alongside the elegance of J.B. Bach. Mozart’s Fantasy contributes an almost symphonic power, opening the door to the 20th century: from the lyricism of Jongen and the boldness of Leguay to the technical virtuosity of Marcel Dupré. A journey that unites the contrapuntal tradition with the European organ avant-garde. J.S. Bach – Prelude and Fugue in E minor, BWV 548 J.S. Bach – Eighteen Leipzig Chorales An Wasserflüssen Babylon, BWV 653b Trio super Herr Jesu Christ, dich zu uns wend, BWV 655 Wenn wir in höchsten Nöten, BWV 668a Johann Bernhard Bach – Chaconne in G major (8 min) Joseph Jongen – Quatre Pièces Op. 37 (14 min) No. 1 Cantabile No. 2 Improvisation-Caprice Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – Fantasy in F minor, KV 608 (10 min) Jean-Pierre Leguay (*1939) – Dix-Neuf Préludes (5 min) Prélude No. 7, 6, 9 Marcel Dupré – Trois Préludes et Fugues Op. 7, No. 3 (7 min) Prelude and Fugue in G minor
